Update: Febuary 8, 2013
The efforts of the CEWR Steering Group and more than 1000 Ratepayers like you are bringing home a significant win that will provide reasonably priced water for the 25,000 + citizens who are customers of Canyon Lake Water Service Company. The Steering Committee still has some work to do updating Senator Donna Campbell and Representative Doug Miller so they can support our challenge in the hearing before the full TCEQ Commission in March. We meet with Donna this Thursday and will keep you informed as this important effort develops.
As I discussed in the update, the Steering Committee needs 8 additional members to fill out our team and additional committed people to act as representatives for their home owners and neighborhood associations. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with your neighbors to help ensure reasonably priced water is available to the community. Since we chatted last week, 4 new Steering Committee members have joined us and several great people have signed up to represent their neighborhoods. Please help us by encouraging your neighbors to volunteer to help make CEWR even better. We have many rewarding jobs in CEWR available to help us keep water rates reasonable – be part of a dynamic team that makes a difference for the community. It appears CLWSC will file another rate increase request in the spring of 2013. Our assessment is the next rate protest will not be as complex as our current effort – we have established a solid base of support for CEWR within the ratepayers and property associations in Comal and Blanco counties and have cleared up many of the financial questions in CLWSC’s rate requests. CEWR needs to be prepared to continue to strongly represent the interests of the community – help send the message to our for-profit water company San Jose Water and CLWSC that we are ready to fight any attempt to inflate water rates.
Send me an e-mail today and thanks again for being one of the committed people who care about keeping our community a great place to live.
