Say NO to a 71% increase!

The proposed water rate increase requested by CLWSC consists of a 71% rate hike comprised of two scheduled implementation dates. The first part of the increase (38%) went into effect on October 27th. The second half of the increase (33%) was scheduled to go into effect on March 15th. These increases would amount to $550 in the first year alone, and a whopping $2750 extra after 5-years!

EVIDENCE SUBMITTED BY TCEQ and CEWR SHOWS HUGE GAP WITH CLWSC RATE INCREASE REQUEST

On January 17th, the Executive Director of the TCEQ submitted testimony to the Administrative Law Judge overseeing CEWR's rate case against CLWSC and San Jose Water (SJW). The TCEQ's pre-hearing testimony appears to be very favorable to CEWR's position. The testimony showed a massive gap between CLWSC's 71% rate increase request and the numbers submitted by both CEWR and the TCEQ. Based on the information provided through discovery and many hours of dedicated research, CEWR has requested an increase of no more than 21%. The Executive Director of the TCEQ submitted initial testimony recommending no more than a 33% increase.
